I have ridden pretty much all my life, although I had a break in my 20’s due to work commitments. But the bug never leaves and I gradually came back into horse ownership, and have competed again over the last 10 years or so.
I moved back to Suffolk in 2004 after living on the south coast for around 10 years. I bought my current horse Nemesis (aka Moo) in 2005 and shortly after that I joined Deben Riding Club as a way of getting to know people in the area and being involved in the horsey scene.
In 2011 I was asked to join the committee and I became much more involved with the organization of events. At the end of 2012 the Chair made the decision to stand down and I volunteered to stand for election. Having been voted in, I have since been lucky enough to get an amazing committee to support me and the club is going from strength to strength. I am proud of our successes and hope to continue to build on these for years to come.

I have been a member of DRC since I was 14 in 1978 being one of the first ever junior members! Competing as a junior then a senior in dressage, CT ODE SJ and Quiz. I was also part of the winning Riding Test Team in 2004 at Lincoln. I have taught many members of the Deben Riding Club as children and my claim to fame is that I taught Helen Stewart when she was a very little girl and look at her now…… just brilliant!

I started riding in October 2010, when I purchased my beautiful girl Mondi for a £1. I was never very interested in horses till I met her, I got on and never got off. I like to compete at local level, taking part in dressage and show jumping, soon to take on cross country. I joined the Deben Riding Club in December 2012 and it was a pleasure to meet such a wonderful group of people, all whom are very supportive and always willing to help.
Hi, I’m Lorraine, treasurer for the Deben Riding Club. I have been a member since moving to the Felixstowe area in 1995 and was introduced to the club by a fellow member at the time who showed me around and made sure that I knew all the local riding routes. Over this time I have done two stints as treasurer for the club after being persuaded to re-take up the job last year. I’m well known amongst the committee for not giving up the cheque book easily!
I spend most of my time these days being groom/driver to my daughter Carrie, also a riding club member. I have owned my current horse,( the once seen never forgotten) Skip who is now almost 20years old. He is probably the least talented of all the horses I have owned but has given me the greatest pleasure due to his unique character!
I have been in the Deben Riding Club for 10 years & now in my final year as a junior. I have competed in teams for all disciplines throughout this time, having been to Lincoln Championships 5 times, from ponies up to horses. 2014 has by far been my best year , qualifying for the eventing championships & winning my section. Also qualifying for Lincoln and coming 8th and 2nd. As of June I became a committee member and am looking forward to starting 2015 as a senior.
